Los Barriles

The East Cape town of Los Barriles is all about easy beach days with a big adventure spirit—especially in winter when steady winds turn the bay into a watersports playground. It’s a great stop if you want a relaxed vibe, beautiful Sea of Cortez views, and quick access to the coast. In town you’ll also find restaurants, cafés, and local stores for food and supplies “abarrotes”.

Must-Do Experiences

  • Kiteboarding / windsurfing / wingfoiling: This is what Los Barriles is known for—peak season is typically December through March, with the broader East Cape wind season often running November to April.

  • Sportfishing: A classic Los Barriles day—book a panga/charter or keep it simple with a mellow beach day.

  • Calm-water ocean days: Great for swimming, SUP, or just cruising the shoreline when conditions are mellow.

Camping

If you want to stay the night, Los Barriles is a great base for simple beach-style camping, plus you can find paid beachfront campgrounds depending on the area and season.

Tip: In windy months (often windiest Dec–Feb), secure your shade and gear. If you’re exploring outside town, stock up early on food, supplies, and plenty of water.
